The Problem

The customer wanted a modern look for their closet doors and wanted to go with the Pax system from IKEA, when we went and looked at the doors the sizes weren’t suited for her 8 foot wide closet.
We contemplating other choices from different manufacturers, but the cost was way out of the customer’s budget at over $2000 for modern looking doors.
I decided to custom build them for less but still have the PAX look.
My Solution
The frames are 1×4 select pine and the inserts are frosted Plexiglas with white painted luan plywood behind. (She didn’t want to show any clutter behind the frosted Plexiglas).
I got the track from Johnson hardware online and the quality is excellent and smooth sliding. This was a fun project and now I get to replace the other two closets in the customer’s home. I’ll try to do a better job of taking pics during the construction process.
