So my friend’s 50th birthday was coming up and I had made her a lawn- chair for her 40th. It was one of the first projects I ever built and it looked rough but I loved making it and it got me hooked on woodworking. I decided to build her another chair but I only had three days till her party. I searched the internet for a modern design since I had just helped her remodel her modern house. I came across Ana White’s website. She and another friend hacked a restoration hardware outdoor chair design and it looked awesome.
I made some modifications to use dowel joints rather than pocket screw joints for the sides and back and for the legs since they are invisible and stronger. The chairs came together quickly and look great. I had a half day to spare and spent it sanding all the rough edges.
The biggest problem with the chair is finding pillows that are big enough for it as you can tell from the pictures. The chair is a good beefy size and the back is the right angle so you can lean back, put your feet on the edge of the seat and and enjoy the outdoors. The arms are the perfect size to rest your drink after a long day at work.
